What counts as a real Korean restaurant?
In this guide, a real Korean restaurant means a place locals repeatedly pay at, not a place with the loudest sponsored review. Gongbap Map does not sell ads or reviews. It aggregates public expense records and links each restaurant to Naver, Kakao and Google Maps reviews.
How Gongbap Map works
The data comes from public expense records (업무추진비) published by Korean public agencies. We keep restaurant names, payment counts, amounts, dates and public source links, and never store officials names. Location labels show whether a restaurant was matched by address, name or remains unresolved.

What to eat: Korean BBQ, soup, seafood and more
Korea has more than Korean BBQ. Look for 국밥 (soup with rice), 고기 (BBQ), 일식 (Japanese), 중식 (Chinese), 면 (noodles), 해산물 (seafood), 양식 (Western), 치킨·술 (chicken and drinks), 분식 (street snacks) and cafes. Each category page lists the restaurants officials paid at most often.

Where to go: Seoul, Busan and beyond
Start with Seoul for the widest choice, then Busan, Gyeonggi, Daegu, Incheon and other regions. Regional pages are based on the paying agencys location, not a guarantee that the restaurant is in that district.

Check reviews and the right branch
Every restaurant links to Naver, Kakao and Google Maps. Check the branch, opening hours and recent reviews before visiting. Restaurant names are in Korean, so show the Korean name to staff or search it in a map app.
What the data does not mean
A high payment count means officials paid at that restaurant name repeatedly. It is not a taste, hygiene, popularity or wrongdoing rating. The same name can have multiple branches, and some locations are unresolved.
자주 묻는 질문
Where should I eat in Seoul?
Open the Seoul page or the map, pick a restaurant with repeated payments, then check its Naver, Kakao or Google reviews. Seoul has the largest number of records in Gongbap Map.
Do I need Korean to order?
Many restaurants have photo menus or simple menus. Show the Korean restaurant name and address in a map app, or use a translation app. Staff may not speak English.
Are these restaurants expensive?
Payment amounts vary. The map shows average per-person amounts where available, but a high total can come from a large group. Check the menu and reviews before visiting.
How do I know the restaurant is still open?
Gongbap Map does not verify current opening status. Check Naver, Kakao or Google Maps for the latest hours and closure information.
